PayJoy is hiring a Financial Analyst in Johannesburg to support the South Africa accounting function by turning warehouse data into accurate, auditable financial reporting. The role works across recurring and ad hoc reporting, month-end and year-end close, portfolio roll-forwards, charge-off and write-off analysis, provisioning and impairment schedules, depreciation and amortisation modelling, EIR calculations, reconciliations, audit support, dashboard automation, KPI reporting, and data-quality investigation. It is a hands-on analytical position that connects finance, accounting, and data/engineering teams.

  • 1–3 years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, or accounting support, ideally in financial services, fintech, or another data-intensive environment.
  • Working knowledge of accruals, amortisation, depreciation, provisioning/impairment, and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating warehouse data.
  • Working proficiency in Python for data analysis and report automation, including tools such as pandas.
  • Experience using Excel for financial modelling and analysis, including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Ability to work with large or imperfect datasets and reconcile information across systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to investigating discrepancies.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy because reports feed audited financial statements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to explain technical and data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong personal organisation and ability to manage multiple month-end and audit deliverables.
  • Collaborative, ownership-driven mindset across accounting, finance, and data/engineering teams.
  • Preferred / Advantage Qualifications
  • Exposure to lending, credit, or asset-financing businesses is an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience with Hex or similar notebook/BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau is an advantage.
  • VBA experience is a plus.
