Job description

Hevo Data is hiring an SDE I for a full-time, on-site role in Bangalore, India. The position sits within the Backend Engineering team and is designed for early-career software engineers who want to build SaaS connectors, REST API components, and data-integration functionality while learning how production data pipelines operate at scale.

Responsibilities

• Implement SaaS connectors for assigned applications and learn application-specific authentication and data-extraction patterns.
• Assist in building simple REST API components with clean implementation and testing practices.
• Debug and optimize code to improve data-pipeline efficiency under mentorship.
• Contribute to feature breakdown, coding, and technical documentation for smaller engineering tasks.
• Apply logical problem solving to integration issues and improve component quality.
• Work with backend engineers to strengthen reliability, maintainability, and correctness of connector and pipeline components.

Requirements

• 0-1 years of experience in software development; internships in integrations or data tools are considered ideal.
• B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Basic object-oriented programming skills and familiarity with software-design principles.
• Exposure to data pipelines or APIs.
• Foundational understanding of REST APIs, including making API calls and handling JSON.
• Proficiency in at least one of Java, TypeScript, or Python.
• Good problem-solving ability using data structures and algorithms.
• Strong analytical and logical thinking for real-world engineering challenges.
• Eagerness to learn concurrency, performance fundamentals, and production data systems.
