Swile is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for a permanent remote role in Brazil. Swile builds employee-benefits, fintech, travel, and HR products serving millions of users across France and Brazil. The engineer will work on backend applications including REST APIs, dashboards, internal tools, and services, with strong ownership of software quality, architecture, stability, security, observability, and delivery.

  • Build and maintain backend applications including REST APIs, dashboards, tools, and internal services.
  • Improve observability and monitoring across production applications.
  • Enhance application security, performance, reliability, and stability.
  • Conduct and receive high-quality code reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to solution and architecture discussions.
  • Propose architectural solutions that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Mentor teammates and help improve coding standards and overall engineering quality.
  • Estimate and plan delivery timelines with stakeholders and product teams.
  • Work with ambiguous requirements and help shape practical incremental solutions.
  • Build automated and well-tested product features, including end-to-end tests where appropriate.
  • Monitor and respond to production incidents.
  • Lead technical projects and help ensure delivery within planned timelines.
  • Participate in engineering hiring processes for peers and less-senior roles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • or a related field
  • or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional software-engineering experience using Java or Kotlin at a senior level.
  • Experience designing and developing distributed systems.
  • Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar distributed-system technologies.
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency at C1 level.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on code quality, testing, maintainability, performance, stability, and secure engineering practices.
