Job description

Rewst is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Product for a full-time remote role in South Africa. The engineer will join the Ecosystem team building Rewst's workflow-automation platform for Managed Service Providers. The role spans frontend, backend, integrations and AI-enabled product development, with React.js and Next.js on the frontend, Python and Go on the backend, and GraphQL connecting the stack.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack product features across Rewst's integration ecosystem.
  • Develop React and Next.js frontend experiences together with Python and Go backend services.
  • Build and maintain connector infrastructure, third-party API integrations and data-synchronization pipelines.
  • Use LLM assistants as core engineering tools for coding, debugging, code review and documentation.
  • Contribute to AI-powered product features using AWS Bedrock and Claude models.
  • Implement GraphQL queries, mutations and backend resolvers using Apollo Client and Go/Python API layers.
  • Write unit, integration and component tests as part of a test-driven development workflow.
  • Participate in code review and help improve engineering quality across the codebase.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and partner-facing teams on integration design, acceptance criteria and edge cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • a relevant technical field
  • or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of programming experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a senior or tech-lead capacity.
  • Strong full-stack proficiency with TypeScript and React.js on the frontend.
  • Strong backend experience with at least one of Python or Go, with willingness to work across both.
  • Experience designing or consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs, including third-party integrations.
  • Experience building maintainable and testable codebases, including API design, external-service error handling and unit testing.
  • Demonstrated AI-first development practice using LLM assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot or Cursor in daily engineering work.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output and iterate effectively on prompts.
  • Ability to work U.S. hours while based in South Africa.
